MSC – Divinia Ship Inspection

MSC had a total ship charter coming on board the day I toured the Divinia and interestingly enough it was a Celtic theme. When we entered the ship, there was a band with a dancer who commanded rousing ‎applause.  The main atrium is the center for many of the entertainment venues.

The ship is tasteful, but lacks the openness of many of the other new builds such as the Regal Princess.  Design elements are unique such as the beautiful staircase DSCN4473that we were told cost $5,000 a step.  ‎Design elements are contemporary nouveau.

Many items are ala carte, however the reasonable cruise fares allow room for passengers to purchase items that are of interest to them.  There is a charge for bowling and pub food, but the main dining rooms are attractive as is the theater, which seemed to have state of the art sound and great seating and sight lines.

Children sail free on MSC and they have some of the same innovative family dining options that are similar to Disney and RCCL.

Caribbean cruises have English only as I heard during my tour.  The personnel were quick to point out that the smoking policy is strictly enforced and there is no smoking even in the Casino.

Current pricing for MSC make it an attractive alternative to Carnival and Norwegian.  The Caribbean is more oriented to the North American market while European departures are more international.
